Jackson Ramsey’s second album ‘Youngness’ explores both the playful and painful aspects of adolescence. This album finds the duo pushing their sound into a livelier, more spontaneous space, while still remaining deeply electronic. The lyrics organically cover various phases of youth, such as pre-school (Child’s Song), and angsty teenaged years (Doomin’ and Gloomin’). Musically, Bayliss explained:

“The idea behind the songwriting was to limit everything to synth, sampler, vocals, and drums and find the biggest possible sound while having everything be played live without a click or backing tracks.”

I Am The Clown Man

Now that I know everyone's in the same place now

Anyone will be the first to say they're a clown

All I can do is sleep and cook, no one around

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

I'd say you're winning it all

Aint say you're living at all

Could/Won't

You coming to us?

I'm calling your bluff

You coming to us?

I'm calling your bluff

Could, won't

Could, won't

Could, won't

Could, won't

Could, won't

Could, won't

You coming to us?

I'm calling your bluff

You coming to us?

I'm calling your bluff

Still you want me when you're stealing my gun

Diamonds on your face

Still you want me when you're stealing my gun

Diamonds on your face

Still you want me when you're stealing my gun

Diamonds on your face

Could, won't

Could, won't

Could, won't

Doomin' and Gloomin'

I just called to say that I don't like talking on the phone

I wasn't expecting to meet new people

That's why I'm irritable

Haven't spoken in days

Too bad that I can't keep it that way

The audacity to knock on someone's door

Pretend that I'm asleep on the couch as you walk into the room

My late teens are bound to be full of doom and gloom

It's wrong of me to assume

Haven't spoken in days

Too bad that I can't keep it that way

Today I know what I'm gonna do

Drawing in my room

Drawing in my room

Time for something new

To take seriously

Time for something new

To take

Knight and Dayton

Child's Song

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

Everyone's gotta have it

Everyone's got a habit

Everyone's gotta get along

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

You know I gotta have it

I don't want you to have it

You gotta write a child's song

Only one kid can have it

I gotta kick the habit

You want what you can't have and

You want what you can't have and

Only one kid can have it

I gotta kick the habit

You want what you can't have and

You want what you can't have and

Youngness

Go down to the beach

See the see anemones

You call them enemies

Even though you know what that means

Let's go somewhere far

Lay on top of the car

Look at the stars, choose the tunes

Leave the door ajar

If I could taste your words

We'd be speaking everyday

But I doubt they would be heard

And taste bitter anyway

If I could taste your words

We'd be speaking everyday

And I wonder if I'd splurge

Or be allergic anyway
